As part of the War Crimes Speaker Series, Barbara Mulvaney, Former Senior Trial Attorney at the United Nations Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, spoke on Tuesday, November 13, about the challenges of leading a trial team to prosecute top military leaders for the genocide in Rwanda. This candid presentation examined issues including how Mulvaney gained witnesses’ trust, applied her training as a domestic prosecutor in the international arena, and still struggles with the legacy of this case and of the ICTR’s role in helping the Rwandan people find accountability and peace in the wake of the events of 1994.
